The village of Sanguinet

Sanguinet lies between the Landes and Gironde departments, a few kilometers from Biscarrosse and the Bassin d’Arcachon.

The Landes commune offers a natural landscape of beaches, water sports and sunken villages. Beneath Lac de Sanguinet lie villages and remains dating back 3,000 years. The lakeside town also boasts 2 ports.

What to do at Lac de Sanguinet

Sanguinet is best known for its lake, 11 km long and covering 5,600 hectares. The lake lies between Sanguinet, La Teste de Buch, Cazaux and Biscarrosse. It is linked to the Biscarrosse-Parentis lake by the petit-étang.

Lac de Sanguinet offers two beautiful sandy beaches surrounded by greenery and pine trees. The beaches are ideal for families to swim and relax in a natural and peaceful setting, far from the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. The beaches are supervised in summer, and the water can reach 28° in summer.

Water sports enthusiasts will enjoy a wide range of activities to suit all tastes and budgets. Walking enthusiasts can also take advantage of the many trails between forest and pine.

Water sports at Lac de Sanguinet

The lake offers many water sports activities for the whole family. Take to the water in a canoe, paddle or pedalo to discover the pond’s flora and fauna. Sailing and electric boat enthusiasts can take to the water at one of the many sailing clubs nearby.

You can rent boats to explore the lake at your own pace. There are also sailing and paddle courses for beginners.

And for thrill-seekers, try waterskiing, kite surfing, windsurfing or diving.

Fishing on Lake Sanguinet

Fishing enthusiasts can also take advantage of the lake’s waters to practice their passion. The pond is the biggest fishing spot on the Great Lakes.

Whether at Lac de Sanguinet , Lac de Biscarrosse or Lac de Parentis, you’ll find a multitude of carnivorous fish, as well as carp, roach and more.

You’ll be able to practice all fishing techniques: fly-fishing, spinning, live-fishing and more. Stores in Biscarrosse or boat rental companies will sell you all the equipment you need.

If you prefer to fish in the ocean, you can also do so at Biscarrosse on the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean.

Europe’s highest dune offers a breathtaking view of the pine forest and Atlantic coastline, as well as beaches, sand and even paragliding for the more adventurous. And let’s not forget the nearby Arcachon basin , with its beautiful beaches overlooking the basin and the town’s many entertainment venues.
